Hines spends his time on the Internet, in magazine and book archives, in the Nashville Public Library, and in University libraries to make his discoveries. Also he reads widely in the area of early twentieth century authors and owns an extensively reference library.
In his spare time he and his wife watch old videos, and he runs in Nashville Strider Races.
